Fluid Inspection

Fluid Inspection Icon

The fluid and fluid circulation systems in your engine area are vitally important to the smooth, reliable performance you expect from your vehicle. But, like tires and wiper blades, fluids are a wear item and they simply do not last forever. United Tire & Service offers a complete fluid inspection for your car, truck or SUV, and top off or replacement as needed.

Our comprehensive fluid inspection and service includes checking:

  • Engine Oil - There is no more important fluid in your engine than the oil, and although automotive lubricants have gotten better over time, your oil will eventually break down due to the extreme heat and friction inside your engine. Even before heat does its damage oil can get contaminated with carbon soot and heavy metals that can reduce its effectiveness and cause expensive engine damage. We will check the oil level and condition, change it along with the oil filter if needed, and put you on a regular oil change schedule.
  • Coolant - Sometimes called antifreeze, coolant actually plays a triple role, cooling your engine in the summer, keeping it from freezing and cracking in the winter and lubricating the water pump. We will check the temperature rating of your coolant, make sure it is clean, and offer to flush and fill it if it needed.
  • Power Steering Fluid - Although some newer cars have electric power steering, the vast majority still use a fluid based system. We will check the power steering fluid and top off as needed.
  • Transmission - Just like your engine oil, your transmission fluid lubricates, cools and protects your internal transmission parts. In automatic systems it also creates hydraulic pressure to switch gears. Dirty, contaminated or low transmission fluid levels can cause hard shifting and internal damage. We will inspect the transmission fluid level and condition and make recommendations based on our findings.
  • Windshield Washer - This seems trivial unless your windshield is soiled right in front of your eyeballs. We will top off the reservoir and make sure there are no blockages at the nozzles.
  • Brake Fluid - Your brakes depend on hydraulic fluid pressure to stop your car. Leaks mean failed components and when the fluid gets low your attempt to stop will end in a surprising go. Brake fluid is also hygroscopic, which means it naturally attracts water contamination. We will check the fluid level and condition, test your pedal feel, top off if needed and identify any dangerous leaks.
