Prom Pledge - Making The Right Choice Before Getting Behind The Wheel

April 14th, 2017

I pledge to never get behind the wheel while under the influence. I pledge to give my undivided attention to the road. I pledge never to text and drive. I pledge to drive at the posted speed limits and abide by all traffic laws. I pledge to never drive while fatigued.

In an effort to educate our area’s student drivers, United Tire and Service has developed a community awareness initiative to encourage safe driving practices during this highly anticipated time of year. By taking the pledge above, community members are joining this movement to make our roads a safer place for everyone who drives them.

According to a recent study by Mothers Against Drunk Driving, car crashes are the leading cause of death for teens - roughly ¼ of those crashes involved an underage drunk driver. Teen alcohol use takes over 4,700 victims each year, the majority of which happen during the months of April-July, which is also peek prom season for most high schools.

Through partnerships with local high schools on the individual shop level, our locations are committed to sponsoring safety initiatives for all drivers on our local roads. By taking the pledge to “Drive United”, community members are eligible to nominate a local high school student to receive an all-expense paid limo ride to prom (or other school event) for up to eight other students. We are proud to partner with Eagle Chauffeured Services of Glen Mills to make this grand prize possible!

Until April 26th, 2017, members of our community will be able to cast their nomination. By nominating a local student, you will also be asked to take the pledge to “Drive United”, making the promise to minimize distracted driving and keep our roads safe.
