I pledge to never get behind the wheel while under the influence. I pledge to give my undivided attention to the road. I pledge never to text and drive. I pledge to drive at the posted speed limits and abide by all traffic laws. I pledge to never drive while fatigued.
In an effort to educate our area’s student drivers, United Tire and Service has developed a community awareness initiative to encourage safe driving practices during this highly anticipated time of year. Prom night signifies the end of the school year and the last few weeks before summer. It’s a night that students look forward to their entire high school career. From the gowns and tuxes to the corsages and photos, students go above and beyond to look their best, thinking of every last detail to make the night memorable. But, is preparing for everything really possible?
According to MADD, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, teen alcohol use kills 4,700 people each year and 90% of teens believe their peers are more likely to drink and drive on prom night.
While it may take a backseat to all of the glam around the night’s festivities, knowing how to stay safe on the roads can make the difference between a night you never want to forget and a tragedy that will forever stay in your mind.
