What Tires Are Right For My SUV?

April 24th, 2017

If you drive an SUV or crossover, there are a lot of choices out there when it comes to buying new tires. So many, in fact, that it can be hard to know where to even start.

A good starting point, however, would be to consider what you’re actually going to use your SUV for. Do you have a 4 x 4 SUV that you expect to take off-road often? Do you think you might use it for the occasional hunting or fishing trip on dirt or gravel roads? Or is it just a grocery-getter and soccer team hauler?

Prom Pledge - Making The Right Choice Before Getting Behind The Wheel

April 14th, 2017

I pledge to never get behind the wheel while under the influence. I pledge to give my undivided attention to the road. I pledge never to text and drive. I pledge to drive at the posted speed limits and abide by all traffic laws. I pledge to never drive while fatigued.

In an effort to educate our area’s student drivers, United Tire and Service has developed a community awareness initiative to encourage safe driving practices during this highly anticipated time of year. By taking the pledge above, community members are joining this movement to make our roads a safer place for everyone who drives them.

According to a recent study by Mothers Against Drunk Drivin ...[more]

Prom Driving Safety

April 12th, 2017

Prom night signifies the end of the school year and the last few weeks before summer. It’s a night that students look forward to their entire high school career. From the gowns and tuxes to the corsages and photos, students go above and beyond to look their best, thinking of every last detail to make the night memorable. But, is preparing for everything really possible?

According to MADD, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, teen alcohol use kills 4,700 people each year and 90% of teens believe their peers are more likely to drink and drive on prom night.

While it may take a backseat to all of the glam around the night’s festivities, knowing how to stay safe on the roads can make the difference between a night you never want to forget and a tragedy that will forever stay in your mind.

In an effort to keep the roads in our community safe during this exciting time of year, United Tire is serving as an advocate for safe and fo ...[more]

Winter's Coming -- Is Your Car Ready?

October 21st, 2016

You know it’s gonna be cold soon…and you know that winters in Pennsylvania can be tough. Is your car up to it? Here’s a quick list of things to check before the Auto Repair in Downington PAsnow flies.

Tires: All-season tires are a jack of all trades, master of none. If you expect more than an inch or two of snow, it can be a good idea to invest in winter tires. Winter tires feature a more aggressive tread pattern to dig into snow and slush (some are even pre-drilled to make it easy to install metal studs). They also use a softer tread formulation that stays flexible in extreme cold for traction.

Wipers: Even good windshield wipers only last about a year before the sun’s UV rays and wear take their toll on them. If your wipers are dried-out, cracked, chipped or are lo ...[more]

United Tire Lends Helping Hand for the Holidays

October 21st, 2016

It’s October, which means that the holiday season is quickly approaching! United Tire is proudly participating in two community events this upcoming season: A Philabundance food drive and Toys for Tots. Philabundance relies on food drives to provide much needed non-perishable items for people within our communities. Items collected by our stores will be sent to over 350 member agencies and direct service programs within the nine counties that Philabundance services. These agencies include shelters, food pantries, and after-school feeding programs.

Toys for Tots collects new, unwrapped toys and distributes them to less fortunate children as Christmas gifts. The program aims to help those children experience the joy of Christmas each year. Their goal is to unite all members of local communities ...[more]
